Amazing ironing results September 3, 2010 Marjorie (Atlanta, GA) I just got this iron to replace a 13 year old Rowenta, also made in Germany. I love the needle nose. It's very heavy, heavier than my older model (which was heavy). It did a fabulous job on cotton dress shirts and on cotton slacks, much better than my other iron. It has an automatic steam function, which means you don't set the amount of steam you want. It's automatically set by the fabric setting you choose. I was a little dismayed at first, because it doesn't seem to put off any visable steam. However, it does iron the clothes well. The bottom has VERY TINY holes all the way from the tip of the iron to the heel. You can add steam in two ways. The burst of steam is huge, if you push down all the way, but you can push lightly and it will put out a smaller amount.
I was very impressed with the final product after ironing. My husband has some very uncooperative cotton slacks, which never seem to want to give up the wrinkles, and this iron took care of that easily.
Don't be fooled into buying an inexpensive Rowenta. You get what you pay for. The cheaper ones are made in China. This one is made in Germany.
I've only used it twice but it made short work of ironing. I'm actually looking forward to ironing the next time......and I've never said that before.
Rowenta Steamium September 2, 2010 Karl This is by far the best iron that I have ever used. I received the iron in 2 days. It was pack very well. No dings or damage on the box. I opened the iron, filled it with tap water like the quick start instructions stated. Basically you just turn the knob on the iron to the type of fabric that you are ironing and it will light up on the handle as you turn the knob. The shirts and clothes that I have ironed feel just like it was ironed at the dry cleaners. This iron may actually end up saving me far more money than I anticipated from not wasting money on dry cleaning.
Rowenta Steamium August 26, 2010 Barbara It worked great but shorted out after 8 months. Rowenta irons work well but don't last very long.
Amazon Customer Service is the "Worst," among others!!! Bad C/S service!!! August 22, 2010 Storage Geek 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've bought this Rowenta DW9080 model iron from Amazon website in February 2010 and did not work in early April 2010.
And, so, I've called the Amazon and spoke with a Representative for a return; the Rep. told me the follow: "Oh, I'm sorry, I couldn't process your return since, your product has gone over 30 days." I told the Rep. that it was only a month and a week.
Moreover, I had to ask for a repair center contact information from the Rep. and she even told me that I might need to pay for the repair cost.
Anyways, make a long story short, I didn't get my replacement iron from Rowenta until the end of July 2010.
Therefore, the bottom line is that Amazon was very irresponsible and reluctant in handling customers' issues. Also the repair center called CES in Concord, CA was totally ignoring my iron and didn't fix it for 90 days and, did not follow up with me, even though I called them three times and spoke with Ken, Mary and another female team member.
I still couldn't figure it out how Amazon stock is doing so well??? How could they do business in such ways?? I couldn't figure it out???
I wouldn't recommend Amazon and would not shop from there either!!!!
I hope this review would help a lot to most of you out there!!!
Good iron! August 11, 2010 Susan Canavespe (Katy, TX) This promises to be the best iron I've had in a long time. Which is really only three or four. Anyway, since the one my Mom passed down to me when I left for school. In researching irons before I purchased this one, one reviewer made mention of buying one made in Germany, which this one is. Good advice. Even though this iron is a bit heavy, it promises to last a long time, has all the pertinent features, and the auto-off actually works.
