Black & Decker D6000 iron August 16, 2010 Wilton Wong (Belmont, CA United States) We were very impressed at the extremely fast warm up time with this iron, especially compared to our last B&D iron. Very happy with this purchase. Would recommend this model very highly to others.
Great value June 12, 2010 J. Danz (Phoenix, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Right now there is no "perfect" iron on the market at any price, but for this price, this is one of the best deals I've seen in a long time. I am a professional quilter and purchase at least one iron a year if not more. This iron does a better job at steam than I've seen in my irons for the past few years. Nice weight so I only have to guide it, not press on it to get it to iron. With the volumne of pressing I do, I can not have an iron I have to manually apply pressure to get it to work right. I do wish the iron's sole plate was a bit larger. I also had to purchase (from another source as Amazon didn't carry one) a teflon heat-proof mat so I could lay the iron flat to add water. I noticed these days a lot of irons require being flat to fill, not a fan, but found the mat at Walmart cheap. Only time will tell if this is a good of iron as it appears. If it still works a year from now, yet, two years, fantastic.
My last two irons were the EuroPros which imho is a fantastic iron, it has weight, does a great job in pressing and steaming, but each one only lasted about 9-10 months before the iron would just go off and not come on again. No warning, one minute it works, the next it doesn't. Great iron, but after having two go belly up (and another friend's EuroPro did the same thing), I decided I needed to look for another brand. Not a fan of Rowentas but... bought the expensive Rowenta Pro. It only lasted two weeks before it leaked like a sieve and was returned for a full refund. The other problem with the Pro was the super thick, stiff and unmoving power cord. It made the iron hard to move and the cord was always in the way.
For the price, this is a good deal.
Excellent Selection June 6, 2010 Kimberly S. Boyles I sew for a living and this iron is the best I have seen. One of my sewing students had the iron and I liked the way it worked and needed one myself. I ordered it and have not been sorry. It heats fast which is an advantage with the safety turn off. The steam is great and I hardly ever have to use the burst of steam. I would certainly recommend this iron.
Leaky, leaky, leaky April 13, 2010 Heather (Austin, TX) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was replacing an old Black and Decker and got this all-temp steam digital iron. It leaked all over my ironing board the very first time I used it - leaky right out of the box. Just sitting on my ironing board there was a puddle of water.
I returned it and got a Rowenta and am very glad I did. The Rowenta does a much, much better job and was definitely worth the extra money.
An Iron for those who do not know how to iron. April 5, 2010 Lucie Aubrec (USA) So far, I am very pleased with this iron. The digital numbering coincides with the fabric to be ironed, so the correct temperature can be chosen. Takes out guesswork of "too hot" or "too cool" and lets you know when the iron is ready for ironing. Steam is powerful too. I often don't need to place the iron on the fabric. The steam does the job, which makes the process faster.
